THE STEMS JOIN SUNNYBOYS

Perth band The Stems will join the Sunnyboys for their Brisbane and Sydney headline shows. The onetime residents of Perth (now scattered around the country) and heirs apparent to the Sunnyboys in the eighties, had a string of great singles including For Always, At First Sight, Sad Girl & Make You Mine plus the classic At First Sight… album. The band split in 1987 returned briefly in the early 90s touring Australia, the US and Europe, split again reappeared again in 2007 with a new album: Heads Up, split again in 2009 and then returned earlier this year for the second instalment of Dig It Up! where they were largely considered (along with Buzzcocks) band of the day.

… With a handy pickup guitarist in Even’s Ash Naylor, Dom Mariani’s perfect pop-songs soared. The set closing At First Sight remains the sort of song that should have been a hit in the ’60’s, ’80’s or next Thursday. Magnificent. – The Music

The line-up for the 2014 edition of The Stems is the same as it was for Dig it Up! and features Dom Mariani, Julian Matthews, Dave Shaw and Ash Naylor. How good are they? Check it out for yourself…
