TALES FROM THE AUSTRALIAN UNDERGROUND.

A nice piece in the latest on-line edition of US mag SPIN about our 2003 CD release 2CD Tales From the Australian Underground (1976- 1989). Encouraging to know that 10 years after our release (and 35 years after some of the material was originally released) that the ‘Oz Sound’ still resonates not just here but overseas as well.

J MASCIS DONS A HEAVY BLANKET

The ever so prolific J Mascis moves away from his role as a solo artist, as drummer in Witch and as main dude in Dinosaur jr roles to reunite with post-Deep Wound / pre-Dinosaur buddies Heavy Blanket on an ep of early eighties post-hardcore inspired noise jams – phew… Check out Dr.Marten’s Blues here.

And what’s that we hear? Dinosaur Jr have completed a new album and will visit Australia in 2013? Huh. Sweet.

DIG IT UP! IT’S A WRAP!

And just like that it’s all over… It really was a lot of fun and we’re sad to say goodbye. Thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed the really great vibes and helped make Dig it Up! the event it should be: fun, funny and exciting. A real big thanks also to the folk behind the scenes who helped make the respective days run as smoothly as possible: production manager Matty Wicks, woman of many tasks Natalie Clarke and event manager Emily O’Brien. If you see ’em give them a friendly pat on the back, they were great. Thanks also to our publicist Stacey Piggot and social media manager Jasmin Lipscomb who kept you up to date with everything that was going on. Lastly, a great big thanks to the Hoodoo Gurus and Dave Faulkner and Brad Shepherd in particular. These gents were the perfect hosts for the event: amenable, encouraging and with impeccable taste. Thanks fellas.

So with all that behind us the question begs to be asked, do you we do it all again? Suggestions via our suggestion box: http://www.facebook.com/DigItUpAustralia
