ELENI DRAKE’S SUMMERY HUE

Greek born London based singer-songwriter Eleni Drake brings her summery hue to Australian shores this December.

Pairing opaque R&B elements and touches of jazz with introspective lyrics has Drake finding her own space somewhere between the ghostly twang of David Lynch, the glamour of Lana Del Ray and the hushed melodies of Yo La Tengo. Her 2023 album Surf the Sun released on her own Vanilla Sky record label reflects all those elements and more.

“I want the listener to feel the warmth the songs evokes within me,” Drake says. “I chose warm analog, vintage sounds to complement the stories I am telling, and I created synths lathered in reverb and phasers so the listener felt a sway, almost wave-like, making them want to dance along with them.”

Meanwhile 2020 track Melbourne Blues was written when Eleni took a sabbatical from London, longing for a fresh start in an environment where she could feel more like herself; where she could break bad habits and explore life outside of her comfort zone.

A year or more on from that visit and Eleni Drake returns for her first ever Australian shows. See her live, solo and intimate. Both shows on-sale now via feelpresents.com
