LLOYD COLE – ALL KILLER NO FILLER

Lloyd Cole fans will be chuffed to learn that the Small Ensemble will be appearing sans support and instead will perform two full sets of their own each night. That’s up to 29 songs and almost 2 hrs of Lloyd Cole goodness each show. Crikey!

In other LC news it has been confirmed that the new studio album, Broken Records, has found local distribution and should be available in shops shortly. Grab a sample here: http://www.myspace.com/lloydcolemusician

Enjoy!

CAT POWER WILL PLAY!

Despite the Brisbane Powerhouse sitting on the edge of Brisbane River it has escaped relatively unscathed and the scheduled Cat Power show on January 28th in the Powerhouse Theatre will go ahead. The ticketing malfunctions that happened last week have now been fixed and tickets are on sale as per normal. Support comes from Brisbane songwriter Ben Salter (frontman for Giants of Science and the Gin Club). The show at Coolangatta Hotel on Jan 29th will also go ahead.

CAT POWER: CASTLEMAINE & PERTH SOLD OUT.

Despite not having released a new album in three (3) years and the upcoming visit being the third tour off the back of that same record (Jukebox) Cat Power continues to well, power, with sold-out shows increasingly becoming the norm. For this most recent tour we can add Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal to that list as well as the first of Cat Power’s two night stand at Perth’s Live at the Quarry. Don’t be fooled into thinking all other shows won’t follow suit though, we’re just about “down to the dozen” – intentional Captain Beefheart reference there (R.I.P) – for all remaining shows. Remember: you snooze you lose!

CARIBOU/FOUR TET – MELBOURNE MIDNIGHT SHOW SELLING FAST

Despite it being a midweek show and with a doors open time of midnight, the second Melbourne show for the killer double bill of Canada’s Caribou and the UK’s Four Tet to be held at Melbourne’s Hi-Fi on February 16th is well over half sold out already so a complete sell out is a given. The Perth International Arts Festival show (PIAF) for the pairing has also sold out with Sydney & Brisbane hot on their heels. Again: you snooze…
